In this video I start a new project to build a 308 Winchester precision bolt action rifle and start the process to successfully hit a target over 1,000 yards away. This build included a Bergara Premier barreled action, Triggertech Special trigger, Masterpiece Arms BA Comp chassis, Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 Scope, and more.
In this installment I take the rifle to the 100 yard range to do an initial sight in and go through the barrel break in and cleaning processes.
In this video, I do my initial load development and go back out to Mill Creek Rifle Club range to fire test shots and collect data. I do a Satterlee Test using 20 powder charges.
In this edition I load up some rounds that I believe to be my best nodes from my initial Satterlee test to see which of these powder charges gives me the best SD and group size. I then take the data back to the lab to analyze it.
Components used were Lapua brass, Federal GM210M primers, IMR 4064 powder, and Sierra MK 168 gr projectiles.
The time is now to see if my build, sight in, load development and data analysis pays off and I can take this new rifle out to the long range to make some steel ring at the 1,100+ target.
Testing done at Great Plains Precision Rifle Range, Ottawa, KS
In this section I share the data collecting tools, range targets, and other stuff that you might find useful.
